FOOD SYSTEMS CAREER DEVELOPMENT POSITIONS

AMERICORPS SERVICE : YOUR BRIDGE FROM COLLEGE TO CAREER

As a bridge from college to career, we offer immersive experiences in education, food security, and regenerative agriculture. Our positions combining rigorous, hands-on training, classroom learning, and in-the-field experience. You’ll receive both formal and informal training, participate in peer-to-peer learning, and over time you’ll gain more responsibility and be expected to grow in your independence. We use an AmeriCorps structure to provide apprentices with a basic living allowance and a substantial education award upon completion.

Americorps Vista position

The AmeriCorps VISTA member serving with Mountain Roots will help strengthen local food systems and expand community impact across the Gunnison Valley through projects focused on food access, sustainability, education, and community resilience.

Working alongside a mission-driven team, the member will support fundraising, grant research, donor and volunteer engagement, marketing, storytelling, and community partnerships while helping build long-term organizational systems and strategies. This highly collaborative position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development, communications, grassroots engagement, and sustainable food systems work, along with mentorship, professional development opportunities, and exposure to programs in regenerative agriculture, youth education, local food distribution, and community food security.

  Mountain Roots is seeking a motivated, community-minded individual who is passionate about local food systems, sustainability, nonprofit leadership, and creating positive change in rural communities. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, creative problem solver, and collaborative team player who enjoys working with people and building meaningful community connections. This role is perfect for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in fundraising, marketing, volunteer engagement, and community development while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on food access, youth education, and regenerative agriculture.
