FEAST IN THE FIELD 2025

Feast in the Field is a true farm-to-table experience

. . .

Set outdoors at the stunning Red Dog Ranch, nestled at the base of Whetstone Mountain in Crested Butte, Feast in the Field is a celebration of local and regional food, the farmers and ranchers who steward our plants and animals, and the makers that transform healthy ingredients into inspiration for the senses.

The evening begins with our signature Maker’s Tasting, where local and regional beverage artisans share their craft, their flavors, and their stories. Then gather for a Colorado-inspired feast prepared by Chef and Owner Matt Santor of Crested Butte Catering Company, an unforgettable meal rooted in the bounty of our region.

Feast in the Field raises funds annually to strengthen the food system in the Gunnison Valley and to help Mountain Roots provide nutritious and healthy food to some of our most vulnerable residents. By attending this very special gathering, you are helping to feed families on a weekly basis through our food security efforts. In addition, your participation helps to make possible Mountain Roots programming that supports small family farms and ranches by expanding the market for their products, trains the next generation of farmers through regenerative practices, and teaches kids about food, nutrition, and environmental science through hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom.

“Eating and drinking delicious local food and wine alfresco, with friends old and new in our amazing town is an incredible gift. Biking home from the Feast under a twinkling blanket of starlight is like a second dessert.”
— Heather Tomcak, Past Feast attendee, maker, and Mountain Roots donor

Community Honoree

Phyllis and Richard Guerrieri

Rooted in the Land. Committed to the Future.

Mountain Roots is proud to honor Phyllis and Richard Guerrieri, as our 2025 Community Honorees at Feast in the Field. Their story is one of deep-rooted stewardship, unwavering service, and a legacy of care for the land and community that spans six generations in the Gunnison Valley.

At Mountain Roots, we’re inspired by the Phyllis and Richard and how they exemplify our core values:

  • Leadership in the local food system and sustainable food production

  • Stewardship of the land and their hands-on commitment to animal husbandry, soil health, and land ethics

  • Passion for agricultural education to engage and empower the next generation of land stewards

In other words, sustainable agriculture isn't new to ranching families—it's a return to principles that ranching families have practiced all along.

Mountain Roots builds on this foundation. Our programs take the ethos of land stewardship and bring it into youth education, agricultural training, sustainable community food systems.

Honoring the Phyllis and Richard isn’t just about legacy—it’s about continuity. It’s about acknowledging that the work Mountain Roots does today is a continuation of the values, knowledge, and care that ranching families have carried forward for over 100 years.
