A Community Garden is a shared green space which is planned, designed, built and maintained by some community members for the use and enjoyment of the entire community. Community gardens may be divided into sections in which members of the community can grow food or flowers, and may include a decorative formal garden, an educational or rehabilitative space, gathering space, and more. The gardens and those who participate in community gardening contribute to the preservation of open space, provide access to it, and create sustainable uses of the space.
Mountain Roots Community Gardens provide access to personal garden space for people who don’t have their own land, and prefer to do their own gardening. Plots are rented on a seasonal basis and work-trade agreements are available for those who need financial assistance. Support and advice from our garden managers is available upon request.
For 2013 we have 3' x 14' beds at the COTTONWOOD COMMUNITY GARDEN in Gunnison.
Plots are $30 for the season and include water.
Please e-mail us or call Carol Stratton 970-769-2266 for an application and/or more information.
